This year’s Highland Tourism Conference is taking place later this month and we want to make sure you save the date and don’t miss out.

The event, delivered in partnership with VisitScotland, The Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Highland Tourism Partnership, is taking place at:

The conference will include a fantastic array of speakers, breakout sessions and delicious locally sourced catering.


During the conference there will also be a small exhibition area as part of the day – this a great opportunity to network with local businesses and make new contacts.

This year, the full-day event will of have an overarching ‘digital’ theme and will include presentations and workshops from a range of organisations and experienced industry professionals offering insights and practical solutions to help tourism businesses take advantage of and embrace some of the exciting new digital technologies and trends.

Delegates will hear direct from our visitors in an innovative session where we will ‘see ourselves as others see us’. Building on that great start, Rebecca Brooks from Abbey Ireland and UK will highlight how buyers in our key markets view the region, as well as the opportunities for us all to grow the business-to-business market. As we approach Scotland’s Year of Young People we will also learn of opportunities to get involved in the themed year and hear direct from Young People in Highland on their experience of tourism and their hopes for the future.

Our keynote speaker is Keith Jenkins, Founder and Publisher of the luxury travel blog, Velvet Escape, and CEO and Founder of iambassador, the world’s premier travel blogger network. Keith will be providing insight into influencers and bloggers and how you can use them to benefit your business.

    Digital technology doesn’t only let you boost your businesses marketing and promotional efforts online; but is an increasingly relied upon tool throughout the customer’s online journey to Scotland. Once committed to travel to the Highlands, visitors now also expect a seamless, online booking experience.
    With many online booking platforms available, how do you choose what is best for your business in the Highlands of Scotland? How do you make sure your rooms are filled? Gordon Black, Digital Marketing Consultant at Digital Tourism Scotland, will introduce you to the different platforms available, highlight their benefits to your business and raise awareness of common pitfalls to avoid.


  • Screen tourism, online communities and fandom
    The Scotland of the imagination is the experience of the Highlands, and is the stunning scenery which provides the backdrop for many dramatic film and TV sets. Undoubtedly, film tourism is an increasingly relevant tourism draw for Scotland – and provides your tourism business with a growing customer market. Jenni Steele, Film & Creative Industries Manager at VisitScotland, joins us to discuss how local businesses can engage with experiences of screen tourism in the Highlands, and how you can connect with the online communities and fandoms which surround such shows and films.
